About Church Abandoned

At Church Abandoned, we place a major emphasis on 3 core areas that are immensely important to the daily life of every Christ follower. These 3 core areas are listed below with a brief descriptor of each one:

Discipleship

Christian discipleship is the process by which disciples grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and are equipped by the indwelling Holy Spirit to overcome the pressures and trials of this present life and become more and more Christlike. This process requires believers to respond to the Holy Spirit’s prompting to examine their thoughts, words, and actions and compare them with the Word of God. This requires that we be in the Word daily—studying it, praying over it, and obeying it. In addition, we should always be ready to give testimony of the reason for the hope that is within us and to disciple others to walk in His way. A Christian disciple is one who puts Jesus first, obeys the Lord, produces good fruit, loves others, and makes more disciples. Such a one is sure to make an impact in this fallen world for the glory of God.

Outreach

Outreach is defined as “the extent or length of reaching out: the loving outreach of God to the world.” Defined further as “an organization’s involvement with or influence in the community, especially in the context of religion or social welfare.” Outreach matters because it matters to God.  Jesus clearly stated His mission statement when He said: “I have come to seek and to save the lost.”   His mission should be our mission.  He looked at the crowds and had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd.  Our hearts should break for the things that break God’s heart.

Worship

Worship is when we give our deepest affection and highest praise to something. True worship of God is when we love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It’s when we prize God above everything else and put Him first in our hearts.

“The inner essence of worship is to know God truly and then respond from the heart to that knowledge by valuing God, treasuring God, prizing God, enjoying God, being satisfied with God above all earthly things. And then that deep, restful, joyful satisfaction in God overflows in demonstrable acts of praise from the lips and demonstrable acts of love in serving others for the sake of Christ.” -John Piper
